The Tournament will start on Saturday, June 29, at 1.00 PM with a march of brotherhoods and the official welcome of the arrived knights. The competition of the knights will begin already at 1.30 PM with a sword and shield tournament that will last until the evening. The ‘Trójkąt’ medieval theatre performance will start at 6.30 PM, and a spectacular ‘Battle for the Bridge’ - at 8.00 PM. This exciting day will be crowned with the ‘Castle Dreams’ band concert at 9.00 PM. All day long you may visit old craft workshops, such as blacksmith’s and potter’s.
The second day of the Tournament (Sunday, June 30) will start at 10:30 AM from an archery tournament. Then you may see a demonstration of old dances. An artillery show will take place at 1.00 PM, and then the knights will fight in a longsword tournament. At 2.30 PM you may witness the spectacular ‘Samoczwart’, an encounter of two-person knight fellowships. There also will be a lot of fun activities for children. From 4.00 PM to 6.30 PM attractions such as archery and sport sword tournament for children will be organised at specially prepared animation stands. The official end of the knights’ fights is planned for 4.30 PM.
The participants of the Tournament may also take part in other activities. A Mobile Tourist Information Point will be available on Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM - a promotional stand of the Town and Commune of Olkusz, where, apart from free leaflets, folders, and maps, you may see an outdoor mint where replicas of Olkusz Trojaks (old silver coins) will be minted. An Olkusz and the Rabsztyn Castle history contest and games for children will also be organised. On Sunday, June 29, from 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM you can also visit a stand of the ‘Zamek Rabsztyn’ Association, where activities such as art workshops and games for children, medieval weapon replicas show, Old Polish calligraphy workshops, and ‘Rabsztyn w sztuce’ outdoor exhibition of paintings will be available.
The Tournament is organised by the Olkusz Town and Commune Mayor Roman Piaśnik who took Honorary Patronage of the event, the Municipal Cultural Centre in Olkusz, and the ‘Zamek Rabsztyn’ Association. The ‘Komunikacja Międzygminna’ Municipal Assotiation of Communes is a partner of the Tournament, and ‘Przegląd Olkuski’, ‘Kurier Olkuski’, ‘Historykon.pl’, and the ‘Omega Studio’ are the media sponsors.
